Michael Flanagan, PhD, MS, PA-C
Michael Flanagan works closely with Dr. Mary Morris in supporting her day-to-day practice at Allergy Associates of La Crosse. He earned his Master of Science in Medicine from Western Michigan University, his PhD in Immunobiology from Iowa State University, and was certified as a physician assistant in 2007 by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Michael has extensive research experience, both in academic and private sectors. At the University of Cincinnati he investigated the mechanism of oral tolerance, by which the body suppresses our response to the foods we eat (food allergies indicate this mechanism is not perfect).
He has previous physician assistant experience working in medical facilities where allergy shots were the only option for patients. He saw firsthand how many people with allergies were not candidates for allergy shots and how many could not invest the time for treatment.
Upon touring Allergy Associates of La Crosse, Michael was struck by the incredible patient stories he heard and saw through the clinical and lab results. He’s excited to be working with a group of providers who are interested in understanding the science and improving patients’ medical options.
